IN YOUR SPACE: MOVE LET DESIGN FIRM RETHINK IMAGE

Moving to Shaker Square from an office in Willoughby placed Studio Graphique closer to its client base and provided the staff with a more urban experience. But more importantly the move gave the environmental graphic design firm the opportunity to rebrand itself.

“We went through the same process of discovery that we go through with our clients,” explains Rachel Downey, principal and creative director. “We really thought about who we are and how we want to be perceived, and we translated that into a visual representation.”

The five-employee firm worked as a team to design the layout, select the finishes and settle on specific furniture and colors. In the end, the 1,700 square-foot office overlooking Shaker Square became the ideal work environment.

“What we liked about our last location was that it was a really comfortable environment with a lot of natural light,” adds Downey. “We wanted those qualities in an open floor plan, which allows our team to work in a collaborative manner.”

The vividly hued, contemporary space has few walls, fewer doors and gaping views of the square.

“In the summer, we open us the windows and the music from the square fills the office,” Downey says. “It’s very inspiring.”
